Practice and Application

After a couple of very long days of losing sleep and not really being able to eat because I was trying to figure everything out about my life and making myself miserable … … God reminded me of this….

Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need”

At first I thought to myself , “Really God. That is so elementary! Don’t you have something profound!!! Don’t you have an ANSWER for me!!!” But it was in that moment that I realized, that was my answer. Instead of trying to figure out my life, I needed to push in to God. Seek Him more. Focus my energy on the things that REALLY matter….I am sure Matthew 6:33 was one of the very first verses you learned, just like I did, when you became a Christian. So why is it one of the hardest things to do?? Thinking on this for a few moments it reminded me of Algebra… I know weird, just follow me for a second! I don’t know about you but I was ALWAYS so good in math. I always excelled with great grades, I even took my college math classes in High School. BUT if you ask me to figure out what “X” equals today… umm I have no idea. Lets take it back even farther… how about simple subtraction or division?? Remember your multiplication tables and how easy they used to be???? Well I don’t know about you but I need a calculator or a paper and pen and like 10 mins now to figure these things out!!!Why is this? Why is it that some of the very first things I ever learned in school, I can’t seem to remember now?

Practice and Application….

If you were to give me a worksheet of some math problems and I worked on it for the day I am confident that it would all start to come back to me. I would begin to remember what I learned in Elementary school. If I worked on it daily and studied it daily I am confident that I would be just as good at it if not better than I was in school. Then if I started to use it daily it would become a habit and second nature to me…This is the same with Matthew 6:33. We have to practice seeking God first and apply that action to our lives. I believe that is the ABSOLUTE ONLY way to live the fulfilling Christian life that Christ died for us to have. Just because this is one of the first things we learned.. doesn’t mean we know it.I am challenging myself and passing it along to you today to Seek God First. To practice and apply this verse to your life. I believe that the changes in our lives and country are going to be unbelievably amazing if we can learn and know this.
Blessings,<3 Ashley
