Things I Can’t Change

The beginning of a new year can hold so much hope for the year to come. Though reading different posts and updates from my friends and working through things in my own life it seems that it can also bring a lot of regret for the things we did or didn’t do in the year that has just gone by. Looking back we can see and remember the mistakes we made, the time we wasted, the resolutions we didn’t keep and on and on… but the truth is those are things now in the past that we can’t change. The good news is that we can learn from those mistakes and choose to do something about it this year. We do have a fresh year, not a fresh start. I don’t like using the term fresh start when it comes to a new year, because without the lessons learned from last year I wouldn’t have learned what I did, good and bad. Instead of a fresh start we can continue to build and grow from where we are in life now. The Lord does have good plans for each and everyone of us. Sometimes through the challenges in life it can become hard to believe, but He is there, whether you are on a mountain, in the valley or walking through the fire, He is with you and He promises to never leave you. So here is to a fresh year of building upon the lessons we have learned from 2014, a fresh year of doing things a little better than before, a fresh year of walking closer to the Lord and seeing His promises pour out in our lives.

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 NLT

Blessings, 💜 Ashley
